speed = ratio.

see 3 speed, 4 speed box, 10 speed racer. etc.

Technically there are 3 speeds for singlespeedling.
Walking
Pedaling
Freewheeling

Actually there are four:

Freewheeling
Pedalling
Walking
Vomiting

😆

I go with

Walking
Slow
Drinking.

Besides, the lyric "with the four ratio non-syncro gearbox with floor mounted shift lever" never brought anyone to the door.

"Vomiting"

when you are a truly skilled practitioner this can be combined with any of the other options to make you more efficient. Just remember out of courtesy to angle it away from other riders, unless you dont like them, or they ride gears, then a strategic vom-bomb can be an amusing winner (particularly if the other other rider is mouth breathing on a climb 😀 )

Is it not seated, standing and stopped?

Going fixed will eliminate some of the confusion there.

I can live with it being called 'speed', but I can't deal wtih my riding buddy calling them 'fixed' or 'fixies'.. I explained to him about 5 times what the difference is, but he still refers to them as 'fixies'.

It's got to the point where I leave mine at home when we ride so I don't hear him say it. Sometime this backfires.. 'Not on your fixie today? It's muddy out!' 👿

Can't believe I've missed all those states since I haven't ridden my SS for a few years.
Makes me want to drag it out for a ride on Sunday.

Sit down.
Stand up.
Push.

All can be precursors or preludes to vomiting, breathing out of your arse, and see stars.

There is also the singlespeeders facial expression of choice, this comes from The Holy Book of Taz, "Gurn like you're shitting a pineapple".

It's fixed wheel. All others are impostors. Fixie is an abomination.
