The only problem I can think of is the width being a prob with the tensioner ...but many set ups don't use one so what's the reason???
anyone in the know

The sprockets are designed for the narrower chains and a wider chain will 'float' side to side and could cause uneven wear (if your chainline isnt good). Generally wider chains arnt any stronger in terms of snapping under power but the thicker plates can make them less likely to kink/buckle/twist if something goes wrong with your drivetrain, so either is good enough, depends on your intended use.
