I'm not sure to be honest, but hope changed from alloy to steel to reduce the size, and the connecters are much better looking and stronger.

I've been using AL (saving weight ๐Ÿ˜ฏ ) on my Maguras and they've been fine. Can't comment on SS.

I don't know, but is it anything to do with oxidation????
i.e steel kit for steel components and vica versa

i used to make brake hose kits for motorbikes when i worked for harris performance in the 80's i know old git talking

cad plated steel was cheap and cheerfull stainless was what it said on the tin and anodised aluminium was light and expensive

but we were told by goodridge not to use aluminium on road bikes as corrosion could cause failures of the nut which clamps the hose into the fitting

We use all steel Goodridge fittings on our race cars. Never used any thing but on important bits like brakes.
