And did they sell their design off? Only these look remarkably like the ones I have

Why did specialised stop dong sunglasses?

There was probably a lawsuit in the US, they can be a bit prudish.

TBF tahoe shoes were shit. their specs were pretty good ( adaptalite ), as were their boots - the xc version of defrosters, the 110 and 120s.

The glasses are excellent. My adaptalites from 2009 are still performing very well in more conditions than any other glasses I have tried.

No, they were brilliant. It was the suspension that was crap.

I concur glasses were great sad when mine bit the dust (literally), I thought their 110 trail boots were pretty good too, one pair still going strong even after my dog attacked em 😀

Agreed in full! Tahoes were ace. The later Vibram soled versions were very, very good indeed.

Same reason Giro stopped; because if you're selling primarily to the anglophone market you can't charge more than £100 for cycling glasses that don't have Oakley written on them. Well, and expect to do any volume anyway.

Both brands are accustomed to being top dogs and when it became apparent they weren't going to put so much of a dent in the big O they walked away.

Go big or go home

110 boots are great, can't understand why they still aren't produced.

Always lusted after the 120's but I understand that the sole detached from the uppers a lot

I'm still using my Berm Adaptalites, they are frankly brilliant and I always use them over any of my oakleys.

I just hope I never lose/break them.

julbo makes sunglases with the same NXT lenses (adaptive) as speci did,
there was a thread about specialized nxt lenses in the mtbr forum a few years ago, saying that speci and julbo sunglasses comming from the same manufacturer..
after scratching my speci chicane with adaptalite lenses I bought these ones a few years ago, just wanted nxt lenses again...very pleased with them..
