Eg U-turn. Why couldn't the same system be scaled down? U-turn just works, and has no play. Someone please explain?
my gd has been far better than my talas have ever been
my GD has been shocking over the last month, endless amounts of trouble, check out my last post on the matter ๐
im limited to a 27.2 size one, but at the moment, im really really considering just buying a new hope seatpost, and ditching the GD...
id feel bad even selling it, unless somebody wants the hassle of changing/lubing/cleaning maintenance etc every so often....
id actually swap a brand new hope eternity seat post for my 6 months old GD turbo!! so if anyone wants to offer me that, then go ahead!
A large factor is the size of the tubing that all the gubbins goes inside. Most forks are upwards of 32mm for the stancion where seatposts are less than 32 for the equivalent of the lowers. Got to have an effect.
a better question might be why aren't the seatpost height adjust systems as reliable as the one on my office chair? The answer I would imagine has a lot to do with weight.
My gravity dropper's been more reliable than many fork travel adjust systems. Let's not even talk about my 2-step Lyriks that broke before they were even delivered
Or Marzocchi's system that was so reliable, they've completely discontinued it.
TBH I think that to some extent we get the posts we deserve... Gravity Droppers (OW's experience aside which isn't normal at all) have been solidly reliable for years, and light to boot, but Joplin 3s outsold them despite being, well, a bit crap. So if you were a dropper manufacturer, what would you take away from this? People want a post that looks good first, and reliability's a secondary concern.
ture tha the amount of folk who say my GD is fugly is quite surprsing. Why should i care as I can't see it when i ride. Should be viewed like a mudguard there to do a job not enhace the looks.
Judging by the number of people asking me about mine at Brechfa this weekend, a few more will be buying them!
Reliability? Mine needs servicing about four or five times a year. Is that so bad?
