[Closed] Why are my FORKS dying during a ride?

Have an old set of Pace RC36's (non air). Pre a ride, they move plushly and smoothly. Over the course of the first 30 mins of a ride, they gradually deteriorate (= sluggish movement, little rebound, no sensitivity). Then pre the next ride, they feel OK again!

I've taken the lowers off and cleaned inside with a rag (not a thorough clean), and regularly grease thru the ports.

Wonder if the bearings are dead? Or maybe they need a really thorough clean (and how?)

Any other ideas?

Sucking air in to the lowers making it more difficult for the fork compress?
I am sure I read somwhere about this fault with some fork or another?

I've heard something similar - grease blocking airways?
