I'm intending to get out this coming weekend but after receiving an e-mail about it being too windy on Dartmoor on Saturday I suspect that my bike bivi companion is getting cold feet.

If it's a solo excursion then it'll probably be a boat/kayak bivi on the local estuary.

And as for sleeping arrangements, I'll be sticking my down Vango Venom 150 inside my Snugpak Travel Lite. They go together a treat ๐Ÿ™‚

Hoi! I heard that. Weather doesn't look too bad at the mo, so could well be a Dartmoor bivvy on.

i bivvied the other night in the lakes by a reservoir. had a long drive in the morning, and arrived in the dark, woke up in the dark - never got to see the blumming reservoir!

may be keen for a bivvy trip in late nov in N yorks...

i also have some tarp material possibly for sale (at cost) - 1.5mx2.4m, green, ripstop, waterproof. made my own tarp which came in at 206g...

I went out the other week on the road bike and just dedcided to see how far I could get by heading East. Freezing night sleeping by some woods just off a bridleway in the middle of nowhere. Cracking sunset/sunrise though. Worst part of sleeping out at this time of year is the lack of light.

Last year we were out in -15.
Throw a disposable handwarmer in your sleeping bag to improve things.
It's the long nights that are a problem... Dark for 16 hours... Evening in a pub is often called for.

Did part of the Ayrshire coastal path last weekend - was very mild at night so wasn't too bad at all.
