no, the "off" wasn't a typo.
Night riding just doesn't give me the willies any more. I have always been a skeptic but this years night rides I can't even slightly perturb myself - cycling past the Satanic Church or the Haunted Chapel used to tickle the irrational part of my brain a little - but not any more.
I miss it - how can I get The Fear back into my night rides?
He's still around. I cycle through the Chevin Forest near Otley on my way to work, at around 6 am I might add. I generally don't find it too scary. The other morning though, I got a flipping puncture on a very dark bit of singletrack through the trees. It was very foggy too. I'm not 100% sure but I think the Wolfman was watching me fix it.

He was definitely around last night when I accidentally switched off my light! Ran off as soon as I switched it back on though, the big girl! 😀
