yup, just back in from an 18 mile mainly road ride, lots of ice about, had to turn round down a few lanes. Had a great time, loved it.

I went out on a locla night ride last night. It was great! The trails were as fast and dry as summer and there was no bike cleaning to do when I got back.

Had a great 22 mile ride last night. I LOVE this weather for a good blast on the bike.
So far - 78 miles in three evenings this week, with another 20 odd tonight.

-7.7 up by us managed around 14 miles - but it was hard going, snow still kinda fresh, so grippy on the descents, but spinny on the climbs..feet were fine and toasty, as were hands right until the very last descent, which goes on for a mile ish at speed

my bikes making all sorts of pinging/tinging clikcing noises in this extreme weather (sounded like spokes pinging), someone please tell me im not the only one???? it sounds like its about to fall apart, yet my mates didnt really make a sound, it was silent on sunday in 'normal' temperatures, worried ive now gained a few new creaks 🙁

Well, it wasn't as cold in the forest as you guys endured - but still a bit chilly! Tricky riding too as the mud was only half frozen, meaning that you often had one wheel in thick gloopy mud and the other on ice 😯

Cold enough to freeze gears and to take lots of care on the roads, but not too bad actually. Bring on the snow tomorrow!!! 🙂

Had my best ride yet on the Unit last night. The mud had been making singlespeeding hard going so having a firm surface to ride on was ace. It was made even more fun when my lights packed up on me 😆

[EDIT] only having one gear did mean I stayed pretty warm at least

Whitbarrow Scar in Cumbria for a Wednesday night 2 hour special through the snow and ice. The beer free sandwiches and wasabi peas were fantastic!

Mine does this in really cold weather too (it is a 5 though so to be fair it generally clunks a lot anyway 😕 ) - it was a weird *twanging* sound last night though!

It was a very expensive nightride for me 🙁

Big stick into mech, into spokes, pulling a nipple through the rim.
Needs new mech hanger, new XT mech (cage mangled), new Flow rim and rebuild (or maybe just go the whole hog and get new wheel)
So I think I'm looking at £150 to £250 damage. ARGH!

You want ice tyres - the racket they make on any sort of hard surface means you can't hear anything else at all... Bonkers solo ice-surfing night ride above Hayfield last night. 🙂

Tried skipping over a semi-frozen swamp and ended up OTB with mate behind landing on me from a height. He was rolling around in agony and my already titanium-reinforced finger is an interesting shade of purple today. All good fun : )

So last night in the snow and ice on the MTB, and tonight on the turbos at the clubhouse with the coach.

Spice of life and all that

Commute was pretty brutal tonight, snow hitting my numb face at a rate of knots was like being hit with spikes! Strangely enjoyable though!

Went out last night. The mud was frozen, so didn't get muddy for the first time in ages.

My rear mech became a bit intermittent though and the water froze in my Camelbak tube. I had to put it down the inside of my jacket for a quick defrost.

Just done 3 hrs up Rivvy, nr Bolton. Bike is clean, no mud, all froze solid, blowing a blizzard and quite a bit of snow. Five of us out and it was superb, more again tomorrow! Big smile on face now!!! 😆

Nice ride out to Wheelcraft - cold but not madly so. Had to bed in my ice tyres. Cracking tailwind on the way back. Sweet!

Does the commute home count? Icy cycle paths were scary on slick tyres, ended up on the road for one section! Wish the council would grit them too.

Was out last night, frosty under tread, but not that cold as long as you kept spinning hard and attacking the climbs. Still got muddy though, bike was filthy.

Just back in from some bone dry trails in Fife. Tailwind on the way out and a bit of shelter from the trees on the way back.

Oh and a Pterodactyl was roosting in a tree, scared the life out of me when it took off.
