Hopefully, yes. Ideally nice and early before all the idiots take to the roads.
Weather is abysmal at the moment though. ๐
I went for a quick 30km road ride round Pendle hill (600m or so of climbing) this afternoon, and will probably do a loop up road the other direction on Boxing Day - still only 45km or so - checking out what the riding is like round my parents new house.
Local 15 minute blast in the morning to make room for Turkey and ale ๐
rode to work (17 miles) at 530am this morning, does that count?
Just about to go out on the road bike for a lazy 20 miles on the Bath Bristol railway path .I did get 30 in last night as well though
Get ready to head out for a couple of hours 8)
mrs swiss still in scratcher so away out for a quick bit of road now
I'm gonna leave it an hour or so, just been out with one of the dogs and its impossible to walk to the footpaths due to ice so ended up walking in the road but even that's slippy at the edges.
Enjoyed an hour out on the road bike before dawn. A wee bit nippy but very peaceful and pleasant nonetheless, back for breakfast and presents - all done! Merry Christmas ๐
Went out early on the road for an hour and got back just as it was getting light. Loverly and quiet with clear sky and frost.
Don't know why I don't do it more often this time of year.
Just got back from a very wet hour sliding around the local woods
A pleasant 15 mile round trip to Oxford on roads and towpath, just cleaned the hybrid. Ready for a shower then down the pub for my first ever Christmas day on my own! 8)
Cycle over to my family's big day tomorrow, parents, brother and his wife and kids. Yay.
Got 10 miles or so in on the roadie in between booking and taxiing duties. Quite nice.
I did a couple of hours round Mamil Central (Richmond Park) first thing. It was actually really nice early on; families out walking, kids playing on new bikes/scooters, some of the joggers and dog walkers were wearing Santa hats and some people were calling "Merry Christmas!" to passing cyclists.
It was genuinely heart warming.
Then it started getting busy with moron drivers so I left. ๐
Well that ride has been freezing and it's sent the gunge out of my nose back into my left ear so I've now got muffled hearing on that side.
Really enjoyed it though, stayed off the roads as the couple of short sections I did had drivers behaving like its national be an idiot day.
Quick blast around the local cycle track (Greenway in Letchworth) trying to beat my PB for the route on my Fireline Ti 29er. Did it in 58mins odd - a couple outside my PB but had lots of big puddles, mushy leaves and a headwind for part of it.
I feel much better after eating all those chocolates (Terries segments!) last nigh & ready for the turkey........
Quick 1hr15 blast on the CX bike, sun did come out but very wet here and blowing a bloody gale, should be better tomorrow.....
Did an hour and half on road bike. Beautiful weather, sunny and just hint of breeze.
Nice 2 hour blast to the inlaws for lunch ๐
short 25m loop on the winter road bike .before helping to do chrimmy lunch for 9.all over now chill with a few beers. ๐
Presents delivered by bicycle, beer & a free dram in local club, now for snooze infront of the TV
Done.
Short spin along the banks of a slightly swollen River Severn ๐
I got a nice steady 25 miles in on the winter roadie earlier. Beautiful sunny day with just a tad too much in the way of headwind.
If I could have one thing for Christmas, could you all so calling road bikes "roadies" ๐ก
Lazy lie in this morning (just me and the GF so it's allowed!), got up, went and collected her car from town (few ciders in town last night and walked home), came home, prepped the Turkey, got into cycling gear, then out for a 2hr spin round the local canals.
Did 16 miles at a leisurely pace, in lovely sunshine, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Just pulled the Turkey out the oven, and about to do the veg, then tie to get stuck in and back on the cider too! ๐
This is what Christmas is about, not pretending to tolerate lots of people you see only once a year just cos you happen to be related to them...
The rest of the family wanted a walk and I wanted to ride so we went over Clent. I rode up and down a fairly big hill lots of times in the hour and a half I had and found lots of cool, steep trails. So I'm happy.
And I'll be out on the winter roadie for some more smiles again tomorrow too. Want to bring your roadie round for a blast, Al?
17 mainly off road miles around marple way... Mulled wine half way round then home for a dinner for two....
She's fast asleep now!!!! Very nice day,
