No it wasn't, discs are no better, calipers are fine. You're imagining it.

absolutely nothing to do with the wind n rain hammering on bedroom window at 6:30am, honest

Wind and lashing rain woke me up all through the night, leaving me lying awake to worry about going out in it.. and I still did it, 6.30am, in the dark... double tough guy 😆

Bloke I work with rode in, I'm looking at some healthy gravel rash on his forearm.. 😐

Stay safe, the ride home might just be a little better as it rolls over the top of us.

Nah I commute on the bike to enjoy it, not to prove a point. For that reason I'm out.

Yup! Nicest commute for a while. Hasn't got this far north yet.

Pulled on the big boy pants and braved it this morning. Was horrible.

I geniunely thing the only type of wind I ever ride in is a head wind. I could turn round and it would still be a head wind!

I took the cross bike out on the Quantocks, there were 4 or 5 downhiller types pushing their bikes back up the hill at Triscombe, they're a hardy bunch.
The sun almost came out a few times.

56mph headwind according to my Anemometer...but it wasn't constant, so was quite manageable.

Going in (heading southwest) was hard work. Coming back (going north east) was like riding a motorbike!!

"Tonight is going to be even worse - dreading Tower Bridge, it'll be lethal..."

Went over London Bridge about an hour ago, surprisingly ok

How far did you have to go, molgrips? Were you off to B'ham this morning?

Cheers Shermer, good to know.

Round the Walkie talkie building its biblical at the moment. Properly had my feet blown out from under me earlier when I went to grab some lunch.

Last time it was particularly windy I rode in along the towpath to avoid any unfortunate results from gusts.

I too end up shouting at the wind. It's character building, and I sort of do enjoy it. The ride home is always good fun too - 30mph in places along the flat last time, which isn't bad on the commuter/towpath. Speed was limited by common sense not legs!

mild flood related detour required on the way home, and trailer was getting buffeted a bit! (you can just see the tops of the posts for the path across in the water)

Was hard work this morning after Gorrick yesterday, but not windy enough to worry about getting blown over. Must have missed the worst gusts until I got home and tried to carry bike down the steps.

The biggest problem was the morning high tide, combined with the storm surge, flooding my route in. The ride home was actually quite nice.

I rode in, 20 miles cannock chase to brum, cross/head wind both directions (probably mostly cross) it was horrible. It's been worse though this year, but I didn't enjoy it. Hit 1000 miles for the year though so that was nice.

Went for a 2h run early doors, was pretty miserable TBH. Cold, rainy, windy. Nothing out of the ordinary but not much fun.

Just back from a 90 min spin, and actually it was rather pleasant. Headwind on the way out but nothing too bad, and got gently blown home.

Couple of hilarious moments on yesterdays ride home

- a woman ranting and shouting out loud at the wind. I actually thought she was cycling with a bloke but when I rode up to him he was looking at her in wonderment too. The wind was so fierce she was struggling to clip her leg in somehow

- getting out the supermarket with some stuff to stick on the bike, and trying to attach it to the bike without getting blown over. The shop is in a very exposed and windy section near home - most people head down, screaming or laughing, and leaning into the wind

Was most amusing!

I've never done that, not even two hours into a shitty windy ride where everything's already gone wrong.. *cough*
