Following recent threads a deposit is down for a test ride. Will be used for old-fashioned natural XC, wheels on ground, better weather riding, largely west of Scotland. No racing or air, but I enjoy techy climbs as much as descents.

Real life experiences ?

I have a standard AnthemX (26") that I run with a modded set of Pikes at 100mm/130mm via a DPA spring. It is great fun to ride - capable on the ups, and fun on the downs. It is set up with a 70mm stem and 750mm bars, not perhaps how Giant envisioned the AnthemX, but perhaps a bit more like the SX.

My only long term concern is that I might over egg it beyond the long term capacity of the frame. I "invested" in a Grapil for an upcoming Colorado/Utah trip. The Grapil shed first blood...

I also have an older AnthemX with 120s. Made a remarkable difference to the bike.

Sounds good, thanks. I also have a Soul with 120mm Reba and Reverb, the Anthem is for bigger days, dryer trails, comfy fun..... on a decent budget..

Another 26X here, same sort of riding, climbs like a mountain goat. Light, value, great fun

First proper shake down ride today with a few laps of Cathkin. Some fettling with cockpit and air settings and it was dialled in by end of first lap.

Very pleased with it. Light and quick and plush compared to Soul 😀

A month in and loving it 😀 fast and fun and quite complementary to HT. A few teething issues with suspension setup and cockpit, swopping bits and bobs around, dropper lever, changed saddle and grips. 2.5 hrs on it today at Mugdock and everything was working just right 🙂 great bike for tecky trails and climbs as well as it descends ! Have had a fair few pedal strikes but still getting used to it ! Stock rear racing Ralph is crap in the mud but thats why I have a Soul 😀
