I'd like to shorten the stem that came on my Whyte boinger, but a replacement is 50 quid which is a bit steep for me. (like this http://www.whytebikes.com/2013/product.php?xProd=72&xSec=10)
Presumably it's a fairly generic part, so I could buy a stem from brand whatever and fit the face plate.
Anyone know what stem the 'really' are?
Why bother with the faceplate? just change the complete stem.
Because it matches nicely!
(and because I'm curious what stem it really is).
Whyte/ATB sales work quite closely with FSA but I can't say for certain, if you're that worried about looks the time taken searching for the right stem may well outweigh the £50 spent on the Whyte stem.
Pics aren't any help.
Some web sites give you the bolt dimensions for faceplates, so maybe some research needed...
Give 'em a ring?
Have you got a better photo, not much of use on there! £50 for a stem isn't that bad, less than Thomson/Hope etc, so if you're that bothered just stump up.
All fair points.
Hey I have an FSA just arrived so I'll try that ta.
I tried an Orange Stalk, it doesn't match that.
What fun.
I recognise it and have a catalogue here, but I don't know of anyone else using the same stem / nothing from a google of the part number sorry.
