Thompson. Yep. I know about them.
Who else?

I need a 27.2, 400mm seatpost with a bit of layback and a stem around 60-70mm with a bit of rise

The shinier the better 🙂
Cheers!

That Superstar post is a bit crap. No micro adjust on it......

Richey make one but it's only 350mm

Black post and white stem and bars.

Possibly blackspire but I'm not 100%, they used to but not sure if they still do.

Need pics of the bike so I can tell you reliably that black will look better. Even without pictures I can be about 97% sure that it will...

Control Tech make nice kit. Do they do silver? Hmmmm

The bike WILL look better with silver, but I might go with it like this:

How about OnOne (Although after their less than helpful responses to the headset question I can understand why you wouldn't)? They do these in silver...
Stem: 60mm, silver, 6deg rise

Seatpost: Hipolished silver, 12mm layback, 27.2mm

Nah thanks. I'll be selling my O-O 456 soon. Had enough of the shitty design faults.

I've got a black ComtrolTech post so I'll probably get a white Bontrager stem and bars, or something similar, maybe used, nice, OE stuff.

Can't afford Ti though! 🙂

No reason why not at all. I was looking for alternatives, that's all. 🙂

Ritchey Classic +1!

Not long enough, sadly. Richey was top of my list. 🙁

Planet X do some tidy ones -

PX, On One, same thing, no thanks. Had enough of them.

Pete; Genesis own branded stuff in Silver is good. Also Sunline worth checking. Cant beat Thomson though IMO.

(Aversion to all things On-One ; does that mean that Orange thing will go? 😉 )

Oh dear. The rules state stem and seat post must match. Bars match the forks. Amateurs. 🙄 😉

Thomson FWIW.

I got a nice amount of spring out of my USE titanium seatpost/flite flow saddle - maybe 3/4 inch.

Might be worth the extra little expense for the plusher ride.

See pic above, and I've just replied 🙂

Andy, cheers mate, I'll have a look-see 🙂

To be fair, thinking about it, I'll probably use the black Control Tech post that's currently on another bike with a new white stem and maybe white bars too, but I've already got some EA70s I got in 'part payment' for a job I did, it would only be vanity making me change them! 8)

No. I've sorted the design fault that once had, at great expense. You can't hack carbon to bits and weld new bits in, and I couldn't KEEP ignoring that Kili forever. 🙂

VeloOrange is nice and shiney, though would limit you to 25.5mm bars and the posts are only 300mm long. Nitto?

A ha it all makes sense now, is the frame one of the ones from cycle gear or the one that Leku had up for sale at a daft cheap price?

The very same. I'm picking it up at the Bristol Bike Jumble next month.
That'll be my third time at the jumble and the second time I've come away with a nice steel frame! 🙂

It's a bit of a git really. I don't really want On One kit, but I can get stem, post and bars from them, exactly what I want, in the sizes I want, for £68.
I might have to change my mind.........

I've got one 😛
Problem is it doesn't fit what I need, if you read the OP...... 🙂

And you have NO IDEA about how un-snobby I am. (There's those on here that call me the 'pikey-biker') I'm actually going to be building this bike by spending no money at all, just selling stuff I already have and being careful with my money. That's why I asked in the first place, so I can get best VFM! 🙂
My spread sheet is telling me I can build the whole bike for £1176, including the prices of the stuff I'm transferring over from my C456. That's what I'll have paid for a fillet brazed 853 frame, with brand new Revelations and a brand new XT 2x10 group set, DT240 hubs on Mavic 717 rims, and Magura Louise carbon brakes. Actual outlay on new parts will be just under £700, fully funded by buying and selling, and servicing bikes for other people. 🙂

Kalloy actually make a seatpost and stem that fits every requirement you specified in your first post!

interested to hear what excuse you have now you have this information? 😛

You're clearly no pikey! bet you can't even wheelie with a fag in your hand 😉

Tell you what, The Crank Bros Cobalt 3 post is lush, but the matching stem...? Not so much.... 🙁

EDIT
Actaully, scub that, that's lush too. I couldn't see from the crap pic I found how the bar clamp worked

£161 for bars, stem and post though. Ouch.

Nahh. That's crazy money. I'll forget that idea. Not even sure it'll look any good on that frame either.

That Answer Pro Taper bar is more of a bronze colour than silver, I bought one hoping to match a silver Thomson stem, but it's way off.
