Ione, did you take the canal from Liverpool St to St Johns Wood. It's a lovely little stretch (well two separate stretches if you do the bit to the east of Islington) and it's fine on a Brompton
No I didn't, I shall have a look on Google. Unfortunately my knowledge of London isn't that great (probably because I live in Sheffield;) ) so I rely heavily on Google maps and have one earphone in telling me where in need to be. Some journeys I do know so don't use it all the time.
Google is rubbish for interesting routes though and a few times I ended up on roads I would have preferred to avoid.
But as they say everyday is a school day and I enjoy building up my mental map of the city ๐
Already getting a bit paranoid about ice but after this weekend (my last CX race of the season) I can abandon my intervals on the commute in favour of just getting hours in the saddle, means I can sit up and take it a bit easier on the dicy bits.
Might also fit that 40c tyre on the front as well, a little more contact area can't hurt!
Try something like this next time, it hasn't done the bit through Camden very well, you can just stay on the path. You might need to walk the bit through the market but I usually just cycle slowly

You can go straight to Kings Cross and then jump on the canal instead too. That'll make it a bit quicker, I really like the canal path, can be busy sometimes though
Did some bits of that - funny looking at how far off the GPS signal goes on the Strava line around Liverpool st. I've got lost walking around there a few times trying to use my phone to find places I can now see why.
I popped onto a shop (brompton junction - for a free seat post insert tube!) On the way to the Wellington. Funny looking at detailed records of urban trips ๐
My cycling legs had zero benefit when running it turns out
Managed to finish every running race I did this year in the top 5% or so, which annoys mates who are more 'serious' runners who do proper structured training sessions n stuff, where as I rock up on race day with very little evidence of running activity on strava, but then soundly thrash them.
My secret 'strategy' is that I'm a lazy sod who struggles to get up punctually in the mornings, and then has to beast the short but fairly steep cycle commute. A few years of this has done wonders for the fitness.
Doh double post
