I did wonder who was on the fat bike having seen various tracks in Swithland last week!

@ everyone - we alternate weekly meets at 7pm on a Wednesday. The next one (2nd April) is at the Man Within Compass pub car park in Whitwick.

@BillOddie - all in compliance unless you count lights as making presence easily detected and squealing brakes (it was very moist last night)(!)

Hope to see a few there next week...............

Sorry about the no show chaps, tried texting you Danny but must have the wrong number.

BillOddie - I particularly liked the final point in that link ๐Ÿ™‚

It's been a while since I posted here, and even longer since I made a Wednesday night ride. Anyway, hi to those that remember me. And, well, hi to those that don't - Good to see a few new names here!

Looks like it'll be a while longer before I can make it out. After giving my dodgy knee the prescribed amount of rest, hot water bottle and ice treatment I finally got out for a ride a couple of weeks ago and could barely pedal after about 5 gentle miles. I've been referred to a knee specialist and had an MRI scan this week. Results are due the week after next. Much as I'm hoping for a miracle cure, realistically it will be a while longer.

I'll definitely be back out when I can though, good to see you're keeping it going - especially enjoyed Danny's write-up of the peaks adventure!

I just hope I can get back to riding before I need lights... (Still have a spare rear light in the car though Scandal, just in case!)

Like a numpty I've only gone and forgotten that we have a family funeral (my wife's grandma) on Wednesday. Doh.

So obviously I won't be joining you this Wednesday. Can someone who knows the Whitwick stuff make sure they are there, please?

After a very pleasing little rattle around Swithy and others yesterday I decided to bite the bullet and fit a top guide. So I now have chain device, narrow wide ring and clutch mech. If the chain comes off again I'm getting an e bike.

On the (very) plus side, I discovered a couple of hundred yards of absolutely lovely trail yesterday about 500 yards from my house! I've ridden around here for eight years and never found it before! A nice steep and rooty start, a quick cross of a grassy clearing, through a gap in a stone wall and onto a steep and loamy bit of trails with a couple of really nice sweeping corners. Needless to say it will feature in the next ride around here.

Hope it goes as well as it can do Danny.

Who is riding tomorrow, I must admit I am not a definite at the moment, Im afraid man flu has been doing the rounds in our office and I am feeling very chesty this evening. I will have to see how things pan out tomorrow.

Muddy, it's good to see you back on here, get that knee sorted for the summer mate.

Yeah, hope it goes ok, my wife is in two minds about doing a reading (which might be a bit of an emotional moment), but I guess I can step in if needed.

I 'test rode' my new trail discovery this evening and I liked it very much. I also did a supremely naughty bit as well, which will feature, but is not wise whilst we are lit up like the runway at east mids.

It would be good if some of you could make it out to 'keep the ride alive' (registered trademark), but if not, no worries.

I will return next week and if we get away on time in the light I will show you all the more 'exclusive' riding near me!

See you then.

I should be there. Not sure if I'll have any legs though, accidentally did a decently paced 80km yesterday!

Good ride tonight again. Just me, asbrooks and everyone. Started with a blast round Cademan woods in the thick mud, went round Whitwick quarry, over the naughty route that can't be named, round Bardon hill, back through Whitwick woods to the pub for a smooth pint of ale.

Everyone(Nathan)took us on some new trails round Cademan woods that were interesting. Also found a new route leading to the area that can't be named.

Did about 14 miles in all.

Hope the funeral went ok Dan.

Away for 6 weeks now in London so probably be a no show till mid May. Let's try and do something over easter

Another great ride last night! I have a sore knee after coming off in Cademan woods but all's good. Lights lasted well now I've got the charger sorted out.
Thanks for the guiding duties Jez. Hope work goes OK in the big smoke!
Easter sounds good if Easter Monday. Got the inlaws coming over from France, it'll be a bit rude to clear off whilst they are here.

OMFG! Are you guys still alive? I mean, riding through the killer smog. And what's worse, it's FOREIGN smog. Farage will have something to say about this!

Looking forward to next Wednesday evening. See you then.

Was wondering why I was getting out of breath quick, the syberian dust or might just be the fact I'm recovering from man flu!

Oh nightmare.

I am going to have to pull out of Wednesday as I seem to have come down with something a bit nasty. Whatever the hell it is, my arms and legs feel like they have the worst tendonitis possible, and have done since Friday night.

Has anyone else's man flu been like this? No cough or cold or runny nose, just a bit of a sore throat and massively painful arms and legs?

Anyhow, I've been given a load of antibiotics, so hopefully I might be on the upswing by next Wednesday. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Hello chaps. Sorry to put a downer on things but my mum passed away last Weds and I'm flitting between home and South Wales sorting stuff out all in a bit of a daze at the mo, so I'll be out for at least another few rides I'm afraid. Looking forward to it though - my bike hasn't seen daylight of ages ๐Ÿ™

I can't really blame the smog on my unfitness, seeing as I was riding in the same conditions as everyone else ๐Ÿ™‚ !
Is anyone going to be out tomorrow, it seems like we're all dropping like flies!

I'd quite like to, assuming it's from Woodhouse Eaves. And assuming you don't mind some random stranger holding you up with his ridiculous clown-bike

I should be out tomorrow... assume its woodhouse eaves? But if danny is not out I am not that sure of where to go!

Any chance we could make it a half 6 start now?

@theglover. It is woodhouse this week. I'm not 100% sure either, but we could make it up as we go!
A 6.30 start is OK with me. How about you mrbelowski?

Might be able to make 6:30, depends on how close the missus is to chucking the kids out of the window. Will post later.

As for route, I was hoping you fellas could show me some new awesome cheeky stuff ๐Ÿ™‚

Cheeky stuff? I've not been paying too much attention to where I was going, just concentrating on keeping up with the group! Also I don't know how I feel about Bradgate park in the light.
The lighter nights bring out the dog walkers, moaners and whingers!

You don't really want to venture into Braggy in the daylight before 8pm or after 8am as the likelyhood of earache is greatly increased.

I was thinking the same, we really need someone with us who knows the area. If we meet at 7, we could just about spend an hour in swithland woods. Is there anything else local?

Sorry boys, I have no brakes, which is a slight hindrance, I will be fitting new ones tomorrow though so will be about next week.

Sorry to hear the bad news Rascal, I hope things are as well as they can be at such a difficult time.

Danny, I had something similar last week but with all the signs of a cold/flu, was a bugger and I'm still spluttering a bit.

Need to get the show back on the road next week, I just hope this great weather holds out. If my chain for the SS build has arrived tonight I might have a no doubt eye opening quick blast locally tonight.

Scandal - I got a KMC 610HX single speed 3/32ths inch chain floating around in my garage that Wiggle sent me by mistake ages ago - never even been out of the box. Can bring it tonight in exchange for a beer token if I'm allowed to play out

I have a chain delivered waiting at home but thanks for the kind offer.

I only have a nearly finished rigid single speed at the moment as my main bike is in a state of rebuild. There is not way I will be able to keep up on a first ever ss ride and it is highly unlikely I'll make it over any where near in time to ride.

If I get home early and get the chain sorted quick enough I'll try, don't wait for me though.

I think Bob knows a bit of the stuff around there so you will be in capable hands.

Anyone interested in getting out on Easter Monday? Cannock Chase maybe?

I have family commitments over the coming weeks so I'm not sure if I can get out the for next couple of Wednesday night rides.

Did any of you guys get out on Wednesday?

Me, Matt and Rob had a nice blast on Wednesday - thoroughly enjoyed it, but i think I'll bring a thinner bike next time. And a means to buy beer ๐Ÿ™‚

I might be able to get out a bit over easter, kids permitting

Progress.

I managed a shortened version of my usual ride this morning, and I didn't feel too bad(!)

Hopefully I will be out to play on Wednesday, but you lot will need to be patient with me I think!

Can someone please let me know the meet as I am now out of sync?

Had a cracking day riding locally yesterday, 25 miles and some cheeky new bits around Charnwood that I have never seen before. A bit of a take any track that presents itself type of day.

All done on the single speed as well, legs feeling it today mind ๐Ÿ˜›

Anyone have any issue if we do Woodhouse this week? I haven't been able to attend the ride over there for a few months now.

Shall we set the meet as 7pm Wednesday 16th April in Woodhouse Eaves village car park?

I promise I'll show you the nice new bit I've found and a 'super-cheeky' in the daylight.

Also, anyone up for an away day Saturday 26th April (I can't really get a pass over the easter weekend)? If the weather holds, it would be a great opportunity to do Cut Gate as it should be getting pretty nicely rideable up there by now.

I don't want to put a downer on Cannock on Easter Saturday, but you guys do realise how busy it will be if the sun is out, don't you?! Form an orderly queue at the start of every 300 yard section!
