[Closed] White Industries Freewheel

I used to just replace my Shimano singlespeed freewheel once a year but they seem to be using mature cheddar rather than steel in their bearings these days, so I'm getting through one every six months.

Is it worth splashing out on a White freewheel at £70? and if I do, how easy is it to get the parts? Charlie the Bikemonger seems to have to take one apart to get spares.

YES!

Got a trials one on my Pace and its lovely, sounds good and runs smooth, Charlie and Tim at sideways stock parts.

i have just bought an ACS claw and the quality compared with shimano is night & day. not used it yet - awaiting rim tape. might be a cheaper stop gap. 😀

I have two brand new Shimano Freewheels, one 17T and one 18T.
Yours for £20 posted. That will keep you going for a year at half the price.

I upgraded my freewheel to a White Industries after getting bored of wrecking Shimano ones, best upgrade I made. Parts easily available from Sideways Cycles and Charlie the Bikemonger. Easy to self service too. Fantastic piece of kit, beautifully engineered.
