[Closed] Whiplash - getting back on a bike

Was involved in a car accident and sustained injuries to the neck and shoulder 7 weeks ago. Having physio etc and been told that I can gently start cycling again. Gently ๐Ÿ™

I've got a cyclocross bike coming for some road riding and gentle off roading, but wondering if anyone knows of any strengthening or stretching exercises that they have done and found worked?

I'd talk to a physio who understood the ways that the body moves etc when cycling and get some advice from them rather than askign on a forum.

If you're not used to a road bike ride position then I'd be careful - your head is held at a much larger angle relative to your neck than on an mtb.

my 2p is that you'd want somethign very 'sit up and beg' to start with so the weight of your head is resting on your spine down to the saddle - not riding with a flat back and your neck/shoulder muscles supporting all of the weight?

I've had road bikes in the past, and regret selling mine in February. Getting the CX as will be more useable.

Just really annoying me not doing any riding

maybe see if you can borrow/buy a turbo or some rollers for a bit so you don;t get any jarring?

Necks are somethign you want to make sure are right rather than pressign on regardless in my book.

I would contact a cycle physio though, whereabouts are you?
