As above really, which tape are you using for tubeless? are you covering just the inner well or the whole inner width?
just get some gorilla tape and cover the whole rim bed
Hi MSP, how much did the rims end up costing please?
390 euros for 2 downhill 29er rims, not got them yet so not quite sure what the import duty will be, I am expecting it to add about another 25%
Thanks ๐
Back to the origional question, is there any 32mm wide tubeless tape out there?
I have the 35mm ones, and 1" gorrila tape does the job perfectly.
^^^ Same here.
I use electrical, I'm a skinflint ๐
Electrical over cloth tape works nicely too.
Got some tape from here
3 x 66 metre roles for 30 euros, tesa strapping 4289 seems to be identical to stans tape, I certainly can't tell the difference other than how it is packaged.
Anything other than Gorilla Tape seems to be crazy... it costs more, weighs more and is no more effective.
I have rims that are up tubeless for 6 years, still on the original Gorilla Tape.
You can tear it at the width you want it and it tears straight so it's perfect.
I tend to bring it to the very edge of the sidewalls to get the tyre seated really nicely.
In the early days of tubeless with non ust rims and normal tyres i'd use the tape to create a seating point, my pub type HT still has a Kenda Nevegal which has been up with the same air for 6 years... gonna smell when that gives way!!
Gorilla tape certainly isn't lighter, isn't the right width (and doesn't tear as easily as you claim), is too sticky and is a faff when you have to replace a spoke, and the link you gave is over twice as expensive per metre as the link I provided.
But other than every point you made being wrong I agree completely.
