[Closed] Which Rear to go with Advantage 2.25 Front?

I'll be putting together a new 100mm forked HT over the winter, and got a 2.25 Advantage for the front as I heard they're pretty good cornering wise, i.e. resist washing out better than some. It is the wire bead, as I ride a lot on rocks and don't want sidewalls going all the time.

What would be a good tyre to pair it up with on the rear? Should I stay 2.25 (comes up big) or drop to a Maxxis 2.1 (still pretty big)? If so, another Advantage or perhaps an Ardent or Crossmark or HR?

Mainly ride loose / gravely surfaces or rocks up on Dartmoor. Not much thick gloopy mud.

Thanks

I love my adVantage 2.4's and the only time they're poor is in deep, say 12", gloopy sticky mud. Keep things simple, another 2.25 and off you go.

I use adv 2.25 with a 2.35 HR on the rear for trail centres and summer use. Minion up front for rooty looser stuff.

Advantage is far bigger than the HR.

So how does a Minion compare to an Advantage (on the front)? Would it have better cornering grip on loose / gravely surfaces? Is it any lighter, or more resilient to punctures?

Can't say I've even heard of the Minion or ever seen one...

I run a 2.25 Advantage up front and a 2.25 Crossmark at the back. The Crossmark was meant to be a summer only tyre for a bit of free speed but it's still on as it's proven to be great for trail centres even when wet and was surprisingly good in the snow.
I've also used a 2.1 Adv on the back which was slightly slower but slightly grippier but not by as much as you'd think.

spesh captains all year on dartmoor for me, ace tires really predictable good wear rates and fairly cheap in the bargain bin of certini.
pretty high volume so comfy and snakebite resistant.
lent one to a buddy the other day and he prefers it to his maxxis.

2.25" Crossmark on the back (this is my usual combo). Amazingly versatile.

+1 for 2.25 Advantage front and 2.25 Crossmark on the back. Crap in clay/mud though.
