[Closed] Which rear shock upgrade for my 2009 stumpy FSR?

Hi all
my 2009 FSR needs sprucin' up ...

Currently has a standard Fox Triad (Fox Triad, custom on-the-fly 3-position switch 1) lock out 2) Open 3) ProPedal pedal assisting damping, rebound adj., 7.25x1.75").

Anyone care to recommend an upgrade for me please?

Reckon I could stretch to an RP23.

But no idea how to buy - what size/spec do I need, is it a straight swop etc....?

thanks
Coops

Do you not use the different settings? Or if you do, which do you use?
RP23 is a great shock, don't get me wrong, but a service and/or custom tune of your old shock might save you a large lump of cash & end up with the same results.

As for what to buy, you already mentioned it: 7.25x1.75" (185mm i2i and 45mm stoke [though Mojo actually list them as 184x44]).
You need new bushing but as long as your old mounting kit isn't worn, and as they're both fox shocks, they can be transferred from the original shock onto the new one

Where are you seeing that size RP23, I didn't think they were available in the exact same size?

Look at the full price list, that size is listed on both Mojo's and TF Tuned's site

Bit tardy, but my idle daydreams about upgrading changed Tuesday night to urgent need for replacement. Settled on an RP2 2011 from Taiwan... 184 x 44... Fingers crossed!

I replaced the Fox Septune (which was replaced by the Triad) with an RP23.

Improvement has been massive. Rides so much better now!

Have you a link for this shock? I'm looking for the same size

I also ordered a 15.75M8 bushing kit on the assumption it isn't coming with one - 25 quid from mojo.

Mine is due to arrive tomorrow, spent a while in customs/parcelforce processing. Cost me 30 quid in customs charges, still a bargain...

Arrived today. It had a DU bearing and the wrong size bush in one end, nothing in the other. Very glad I ordered the bushing kit from mojo!

No major problems, other than installing the 2nd DU bearing. Worked out in the end that I could use the nut & bolt that mounts the shock on the frame to squeeze the DU bearing in.

Test ride tonight!

Thanks for the initial advice z1ppy
