I have a mango Point AR that had a bit of a fail today. Question is how to choose a replacement mech hanger?
Easiest thing is to take it to a bike shop where you bought the bike, obviously. But that will cost money and take time.
For common bikes, you can buy online. However, be very careful because a lot of manufacturers use different hangers for different models. To identify your hanger, remove the two broken pieces from the frame and derailleur and try to put them back together like a jigsaw puzzle. Take a photo of it, then search online for a hanger for your model of bike. Aftermarket manufacturers will have pictures of the different hangers, so compare the shape and placement of bolt holes to make sure you have the right one.
You can buy emergency hangers that fit most bikes well enough to get them mobile, but will never work as well as the proper one. Keeping one of those in your emergency kit is sensible.
here are a few more pics, problem I have is I was in a bit of a flap at the time and i've lost the trashed rear mech and the missing half of the hanger. Just going back to see if I dropped it when I got picked up.
Can you not just ask mango?
