As in, when descending more techy stuff (especially for extended periods) and rolling stuff in general, do you find you always put one foot forward? Does it then feel wierd to put the other one forward?
Or is it just me? (left foot forward btw)
its called your chocolatefoot
Eh?
Left foot me, doesnt feel as good right foot forward, I'm right handed but left footed!
im no goofy foot its regular all the way
i can ride either foot forward but 95% of the time im right foot btw
Skateboarding, right forward is "goofy", it's a minority stance. I still don't know what foot i'm supposed to kick with...
i try ride with which ever foot happens to be forward after the pedal stroke before any bits on the trail. if it's a sketchy section i automatically put my RFF, same for jumps. i can hop the bike LFF but feels better/more controlled RFF.
i do find after a long descent (i.e. no pedalling) i need to alternate the position as the muscles become tired being in the same position all the time....
chocolate foot? sounds like somethin you'd find on youporn.... not sure if i want to know....
Normal descending, technical stuff - right foot is my chocolate foot. Certain moves in trials require me to start with my non-choc foot forward so that the choc foot is "in place" at the difficult moment.
Left foot forward on a bike, regular snowboarder. Makes sense I guess.
LFF even though I'm right handed and rightfooted.
I'm a bit weird though.
I seem in a minority in that I:
Skateboard/Snowboard RFF
Vault fences with my right arm
Spar Southpaw
Some say it is to do with 'eye dominance' - but I don't know.
leftie, but right foot forward
easier to balance on your bash ring when getting trials-y.
honest.
I remember when I used to BMX and my mate could jump huge sets of stairs (25 steps and 20 feet?) on a 45lb bike with 150psi in the tyres. . He (like everyone) used the strongest cranks, Profile Racing 3 piece, but used to bend them regularly. To bend them back he used to do the same steps with his feet the other way.
Try it one day, it's just SO wrong. ๐
goofy. same for snowboarding and other sports.
Right foot forward on me bikey
Goofy when riding a stick.
I don't think I've ever even tried to hop LFF on a mountain bike. That's something to try and fail next time I'm out riding ๐
I'm right handed, kick a ball with my right foot, ride a snowboard regular, but conversely ride a mountain bike with my right foot forward (seemingly the opposite to my stance on a snowboard). For some reason, I don't know why, but I just cannot ride at all with my left foot forward! It feels so alien.
RFF naturally but forced myself to learn and become nearly as natural with LFF
...makes switchbacks doable in both directions ๐
I grew up ice skating. Now use whatever foot seems right, without thinking.
Goofie here, what realy gets me tho' why do I stick my tongue out!( on dropsetc. etc. etc.)
Surf goofy but ride regular. Does that make me weird or just special?
I usually the other one
My best foot is at the top of my legs!!! ๐
its called your chocolatefoot
?
goofy the whole way - same as skateboarding and snowboarding
LFF for me, all my riding buddies are RFF and think I am weird
always used to be LFF on SPD's, but since going to flats im much more versatile.
I'm left handed, but use my right hand for things like using scissors and I swing a golf club right handed.
I am the usual way round when snowboarding, whatever that is called and I ride with LFF.
I find that it is the same for turning. I am much more balanced on switchbacks etc. if I am turning left than right. I need to practice my right handed slow speed turns, really.
RFF for me, which has resulted in some issues with non-drive cranks backing off the BB, unfortunately. I tried LFF to resolve that, but it just felt weird...
It is usually the case that if you ride left foot forward, then turning left feels more natural than turning right. Other way round if you're rff obviously. For this reason one of our exercises for cornering is to do S turning repeatedly down a wide fire road. When you do dozens of turns one after the other it becomes automatic - the objective being to end up with both right and left turns feeling as natural as each other.
One consequence of the whole chocolate foot thing is that your trailing foot gets all the mud and water, so you can see how folk ride by looking at their shoes.
I'm goofy footed for surf/snowboard but ride predominantly LLF on the mtb.But I ride bmx a lot and when I air quarters or spin (360's) I have to go RFF.I constantly have to do half pedal strokes when I ride depending on what trick I'm doing. In bmx going against your lead foot is called cackfoot!i.e spinning anti clockwise LFF or doing tables to the right LLF.
You want to try windsurfing...you have to learn everything twice.LLF and RFF for each tack.Im half as good at port tack beaches than starboard grrrrr.
Right handed, right footed but LFF for biking. Guess that makes me a "minority goofy chocolate foot"?
I also have my brakes done euro style, which will hopefully send any twunt who nicks it straight over the handlebars.
Right Handed and ride LFF.
Strange thing is a few years ago when I knackered my reight wrist I had to learn to all sorts of everyday things left handed, and from then on I've become more ambidextrious, even got alot better using my left foot while playing footie
Chocolate Foot, from Urban dictionary:
2. A gathering place for cyclists who have lacked adequate male attention in their formative years and subsequently strive for male acceptance by making feeble jokes jokes about anal sex and homosexual experiences
lol
Right handed, right kicker, step off on the right, but left foot chocolate.
posisbly to do with wheelying.
wheely and pedal hops are done from the crank at about 1 o clock.
so if you ride strong foot forward you either have to, pull the crank back 2hours and then find a pick up to push on, or complete a full crank rotation (too slow for techy trialsy riding)
dont like stabbing at pickups, landing on them, prefer to find it and push it in a controlled manner
left foot choclate allows me to put in just over a quarter of a turn to find the pickup and then push it from 1 o clock to bring the front wheel up or jump.
Normally right-footed/left handed, but I scored a screamer with me left peg on Monday, from a brilliant cross in from the right wing. 4-2, game over.
