Looking at getting a GPS for the bike and wondered if anyone has got or used one and comments. I was looking at either satmap or Garmin 705..

Cheers

I don't have either but my throw away comments are if you want to get fitter or faster the Garmin appears to be the best cycle computer out there for data, with GPS on too. Trouble is the maps are a bit kak.

If you want to not get lost then the best solution is a PDA / PDA phone with 25k OS maps aka memory map because you can sync with your PC and transfer maps and routes. That's what I use.

The Satmap looks to have the same GPS features as a PDA, uses OS maps but is weather proof and glove friendly. Seems a bit big & more of a walker thing than bike one though?

I've got the satmap and it's very easy to follow with OS background maps. I previously had a Garmin with Topo maps but found the quality of the maps on that very difficult to follow.

Satmap is more expensive though.
