Wanted to lighten my crosstrail, the fork seems the heaviest part and quickest to change, it's a suntour 50mm travel, I need something with enough clearance for 38mm tyres, and have disc mounts, possibly compensate for the travel loss and keep the bike at its current height at the front? Any suggestions? It's 1 1/8 up front. Was thinking a carbon non suspension fork.

Measure the axle-crown length of your fork, exotic have a range of lengths. I would go maybe 20mm shorter than the suspension to account for sag and make it a little more aggressive geometry.

Also there are plenty of china direct forks on eBay.

Usually CX forks are 400-420mm, 26 mtb might be 440. I think exotic have moveable v brake mounts if you run them so can accommodate 700c wheels, but you might also upgrade to disc
