Hi!
I'm looking for some advice on new MTB shoes. I prefer to ride with SPDs, and normally use something with a hard inflexible plastic sole, like a classic XC shoe, such as Mavic Crossmaxes. Which are fine on the bike...
But this summer I'm planning on doing quite a bit of bike packing (Trans Cambria, Haute Route etc) and need something which is a bit more walkable, comfortable, and deals with 1 hr+ hike-a-bike and long seated climbs.
I've been eyeing up Five Ten Kestrels, Giro Terraduros and Shimano ME7. Has anyone any thoughts on those shoes?
or recommend anything else?
Cheers,
I just happened to be browsing the same thing. These giro look nice.
There is also some Shimano hiking SPD low cut boot thing.

these are good. i have a pair for sale.......... lol
not because they are rubbish, but because they dont work with my fused ankle.
I've got a pair of Specialized Rime (or maybe Rime Elite?) shoes. I was doing plenty of hike-a-bike in Morocco with them a few weeks ago, and never even noticed them, which is as it should be.

Spesh Rimes are the goto all day Bikepacking / pedalling / hike a bike/ fast drying/ comfee all day shoe
Sadly discontinuing I think so grab some quick
The Shimano ME7 would be ideal for lots of hike a bike etc. Very comfy.
After two pairs of Spesh Rime I used Terraduros for the Jennride last weekend and they are excellent.
