Have last years alpine 160. Sadly not the new one with the adjustable shock mount. Believed that I didn't need a chain device anymore with a clutch mech. I was wrong.

Run 1 * 10 with a 32 or 34 up front. Understand the old Alpine is ISCG old. Was going to get a silent guide but can't find a 34 - 36 in ISCG old.

Who runs what?

I ran a superstar plasma on my 160 with no issues, pretty heavy though. Perhaps just try a top guide as you have a clutch mech... I have e13 xcx on my enduro and that is very good compared to the cheaper superstar top guide.

Running a top guide already. Anyone know if the MRP 34 - 36 works with a 32 (the strait line 34 - 36 is supposed to). Anyone running a straitline?

Yes, running a straitline with a 32 ring on the front, works well

Got a Superstar DCD with a Blackspire roller on mine, with a Superstar top guide. Works fine.

Were you running clutch + thick/thin chainring, or just clutch?

If just clutch, that won't be enough. I use clutch + thick/thin on my HT on the Nevis WC track and don't drop the chain. Worth a try? It's only about £30 for the ring.

Was just about to suggest a thick/thin ring instead.... I hope it works as that's what I'm doing with my el guapo

Hadn't thought about the thick thin ring thing. Will probably still go for a chain device but worth a thought.

Try the ring first. It will cost you £30 and if it doesn't work (which is unlikely) you'll be able to sell it on here for pretty much what you paid for it.

If you buy a chainguide, you'll never know what you're missing 😉

Seriously, it's a brilliant bit of kit.
