Hi all,
I'm looking to upgrade my rubbish formula brakes that have seen better days... To something a bit better... Price range .. Not sure yet. Looking for some help or ideas... I like to do dh so something that I can use one finger braking, and low maintenance, if that even possible!

SLX or XT would be adequate for most stuff. If doing a lot of DH Saint's are mighty nice.
I have a meta 55 so I can have the best of dh and Xc. Would saints be ok for both? No too bulky?
XT are a lot cheaper and very powerful, some don't like how powerful or off/on they are, I love them, when doing DH/going fast loads of modulation.
Not used new saints but used old ones, new XT's from my opinion are compatible.
I have Saints on a DH bike and they come highly recommended but at a high price. If I was buying again I'd look at Zee's. In fact that's what I'm hoping to get for the new Bfe.

Everyone raves about the avid trail brakes but I thought they were shite in the alps (mine are x0). Awful at shedding heat effectively. I'm swapping for xt when the weather improves.
Had avids... Wasn't a fan either... Formula ain't much better. Shite!

XT's more instant feel at the lever and very powerful. Excellent brakes.
Saint M820 slightly longer lever throw but stacks of power that keeps coming. I would nearly say the Saints have more modulation.
Deore hydro's are very good for the money, £40 an end, can't go wrong.

WMB love them - god knows why. Once they're hot they are terrible.
