I'm out - completely out - I've been squeezing a bit more out of the countless old bottles of chain lube kicking around the shed for weeks and I have to face it - no matter how long I leave the bottles upside down now, they're empty!

Now I don't like finish line stuff and every bike shop I go in seems to only sell finish line - I've been using pedros which is OK.

STW had a mag article on bike lube years ago and I van't remember if it was purple extreme or rock n roll extreme they said was amazing (as long as you had a chain cleaner and put it on a totally clean clain).

Can anyone remember? Is purple extreme any good? Also what alternatives for a really good chain lube for Yorkshire (Grit, acidic soils, normally very wet but occasional dry dusty bits).

Cheers

Badger

get some of that Green Oil stuff. I like it and it contains no petrochemicals.

I have recently been using this motorcycle chain wax. £15 fr a kilo! so far seems to be far better than cycle chain oils in that after 4 wks use and 3 muddy rides the chain is still clean and well lubricated. Its one heck of a faff but while its still early days it appears to be much better

Currently trying purple extreme seems good and doesn't collect that much dust and stuff, appears better than the Finish Line Green Top I have been using.
