I would like to treat him to a full suss. It doesn't need to be the latest model or anything like that. 26 inch wheels are fine etc. I'm after cheap as possible but not shit. The other option being that I have a six year old spesh xc which needs some serious love, from brakes right through to pretty much all moving parts. He's 5'3" ish but growing fast so medium it is for now as the old spesh is that size and a medium seems the best size to buy. Any thoughts

We have a last of the 26" Orange Five, bought of here for £650 iirc and it's a belter, both to ride and in maintenance simplicity. Ridden by 15 year old who is brutal on bikes...
We also have 2010 FSR Pro, for the smaller and less gnarcore 12 year old in the house. I'm dreading the bearings needing doing at some point, plus it's a lot more nervous handling than the orange.
