we got a days fishing from Portpatrick so thought maybe go the day before and do one or two of the Stanes and sleep in the van for the night before the fishing .
so which one or two to do and where to park to sleep .
any suggestions welcome .
I'd say Kirroughtree imo is the best and well worth a visit. I'd check some of the 7 stanes Facebook pages as I believe there is some work going on. Depends when you are thinking of visiting though.
I would say that it very much depends on the type of riding you enjoy, but we really enjoyed Kirroughtree as it had a bit of everything and this would be my choice too.
FYI, I believe the black trail is still shut due to fallen trees from a few weeks back. If this is your thing, you may want to investigate further before you go.
I agree, do Kirrie, you can sleep over at the car park there and then have the 40 min or so drive over to Portpatrick.... are you going to be fishing "The Yellow Isle" or further over to sandeel bay.... there is also dashers den or the High seat, you can always mix up the blue/red route to make things a tad longer down at kirrie....the showers at Kirrie will close when the Breakpad bike shop closes at 5pm
I'm more interested in when your'e going fishing! Boat I presume? Wer'e heading over to Garlieston next Monday for a week, taking rods etc.

my brother went out a couple of weeks ago and had 50 assorted fish but no big stuff yet
Kirrie sounds good I just saw black was shut is there another way to see mcmoab
we thought do one in the morning and kirrie later on camp and a few beers / food then Portpatrick in the morning for breakie and fishing .
there are two ways to get to McMoab...... go straight on at the end of Rivendell section (instead of turning right onto the fireroad, Red trail), follow the Black trail markers but keep off the Black sections, turn left once you have ridden over the River bridge and then just follow the fireroad until you reach McMoab...
Or you can drive up the A75 and turn right onto the A712, a good few miles down this road you will come to Murrays monument car park, you want to take the right turn about 50m past this car park.... drive down the fireroad and you will see McMoab just over the bridge.... have fun lads... and tight lines.... 🙂

just heard that "Stairway to Heaven" , "The judgement" sections on the black are open..... best check with the staff down at thebreakpad bike shop for up to the minute info....
