Building (or my LBS is building) a rear wheel up based around a singlespeed Hope Pro 2.

What rims should I be looking at?

My riding is rigid SS XC. Light is good, but dont want to be sacrificing strength as Im a clumsy bugger 🙂

Any recommendations appreciated.

i just built mine with bontrager duster rims, there nice and wide (28mm) not too heavy and seem pretty robust.

beacuase of the width they give the tyre a nice big volume; which is nice on the rigid.

I'd hate to think what you would call hefty Ton! 🙂

Im a salsa rims fan, despite the fact they say strictly no no tubes on them, but then I use tubes anyway.

Salsa supplied by Ison. Not cheap though.
Ive recently build a massive Gordo (35mm bead width) wheel which is great when running rigid or HT.

I've got a pair of Mavic TN719 rims on Hope Pro2 hubs. They seem to be doing well.

I use "arch". Ridden once, over rocks and all, still true!

I've had stans olympics on my mtb for years and they are going well.

Previously I could not see mavic (I used to wrench and built alot of wheels), now I'd include stans.

Doubt I'd spend more than £50 on any rim
