Why is it so hard to find Plus sized wheelsets online? Every search I do for 27.5+ seems to ignore the +.
I have a Sherpa Next Gen and fancy switching from 29 to 27.5+ now the ground is drying out, but what should I go for and where can I get them?
WTB Scraper
Stans Hugo
DTS 551
Are three I've heard of but tend to come as rims only, so where can I get complete wheels? And what are the other options / opinions?
Thanks

Narrower than many will say you need at 35mm, but I find them pretty much spot on with 3" tyres. Moved from 45mm front and 30mm rear. Get them from your local dealer, not online.
Feel warm inside.
I'm eyeing up the Hope wheels for if I take the plus plunge.
Does the extra volume compared to 2.3 or 2.4in tyres mean you get a lot less rim dinging?
Alpkit do a 650b+ wheel set don't they?
My 29s have 2.4 on but I've got 120mm travel, I'm thinking of 3.0 with a rigid fork.
Will look in to Alpkit.
Halo do a wheelset. 35 or 50mm rim.
I'm using the 50 rims, front on on a Halo Boost hub, rear on a hope fatsno.
Cheap as chips, tough, and work well tubeless with just a tape over the spoke holes.
I was thinking of getting the DT's , but can't think of any reason to spend the extra.
JRA trail dogs get good reviews
Sun Ringle Duroc 40
I've got a set of Halo Vapours with 30mm internal width. Running 2.8 Nobby Nics and they're awesome.
I've also got a set of Alpkit Rumpus wheels, 45mm internal. Also very good, but relatively heavy.
JrA built Me some wtb asym 35's on hope pro 4's. Love them.
I did Asym 35s on DT240S hubs, very nice they were too. I felt like ideally I'd have liked to go wider but the difference in cost and weight was big enough to make me compromise. The Asym's a nice rim.
(I appreciate you're looking for a built wheelset but getting someone to hammer you a set together isn't a big deal if it means you get what you want)
I have a 551 wheelset for 3.0 tyres.
I'd go 521 for 2.8
I have Scrapers (on Pro4s) on the Sherpa and Hope w35's on the SolarisMAX.
The scrapers are noticeably heavier, I can't say I notice much difference between the two otherwise.
I went for wtb i35s on hope pro 4 hubs. Worked great with a 3" Nobby Nic on the front and WTB Ranger 2.8" on the back.
All for sale now as a cheap Orange Gyro frame means they are no longer required.
I'm running the hope 35W wheels on mine with 3" purgatory tyres. I have managed to ding the rear quite badly, but that was from hooking up on an edge with too low pressure in the tyre. I'm running a second set on my FS trail bike with WT maxis minions, have only had one really rocky ride so far though.
Does anywhere sell those hope 35w rims laced up to fatsno hubs?
Still looking for a 27.5+ wheelset for my Fatbike.
Are 3.0 tyres OK for those rims?
I've just seen these on the PX site http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/WBWTSCEGMB/wtb-scraper-i40-275-rims-on-el-guapo-mojave-rs-boost-hubs
I think the Sherpa will take boost with new swap outs but I might loose the singlespeed option.
As above, if I was doing it again I would go WTB Asym i35's on DT350's.
Ive currently got a set of scrapers on hopes which do allow super low pressures (10psi on front with 2.8 nobby nic and 20psi rear WTB) but 45mm is almost too wide for standard pikes...anything more than 2.8's rub when turning hard. If you have boost compatible forks and frame then scrapers will be fine.
Good point re. Fork clearance. There a whinging thread on the subject by someone last year....
I ended up going boost (well getting a whole new bike....)

Also, to add, 3" tyres on scrapers and double chain set needs to be boost. Otherwise you get chain hitting tyre on two lowest gears
Think a single should be alright though.

Another reason to ride singlespeed to add to the next time I'm asked
I was trying to find 27.5+ for a longitude frame I bought. I struggled to find wheels built up. Alpkit were boost I think.
It's a minefield these days with the multitude of standards available.
Used to be new wheels needed, dx or xt hubs? Mavic 231s, normal or ceramic? Job done!
I have a set of the Alpkit Rumpus wheels, been on the Stooge probably 3 months or so and are working well. Part of my local route is an old lead mine and they get a pretty hard time in there. They are non boost QR front and rear (with the correct adaptors 15 front 12x142 rear is possible) they also have boost option.
Think perhaps they must have run out of the non boost option when I was shopping.!
Anybody used/own Easton Arc 35's?
Mixed reviews, can't help think there to narrow for a plus rim.
I got the alpkit ones for my longitude. They were quite happy to do a mixed set as well since the longitude frame set is boost front, standard 135mm qr rear.
I've got a set of JRA-built i35's on Pro4's that I bought from a nice man on STW.
I'd have no hesitation recommending JRA wheelsets to anyone!
