Fox has launched its new Float X2 and DHX 2 shocks. We’ve not had chance to put any claims to the test on the trail, but the redesign from dual to monotube shock promises to be more consistent and more reliable, particularly with clevis mounted shocks. You still get all the adjustability of its predecessor though. Full PR below, but first, a spot of Jackson Goldstone:
Fox Launches the Next Evolution of Gravity Suspension: The All-New FLOAT X2 and DHX2

New chassis. New damping. Same name. The unparalleled performance of FLOAT X2 and DHX2 shocks has evolved. With completely redesigned chassis and internals for 2025, The FLOAT X2 and DHX2 are the world’s first 4-way adjustable monotube mountain bike shocks, offering unmatched control and durability. Whether racing Downhill or charging big-mountain Enduro lines, these shocks deliver podium-proven performance.

Float X2: The Definitive Gravity Air Shock
The Float X2 sets a new benchmark in gravity air shocks with an all-new monotube design, pressure balancing, and increased tuning capability. The result is improved shock response, more usable tuning range, and greater durability, —ideal for riders who demand the highest level of performance. We closed the gap to the award winning Grip X2 fork dampers, giving you more traction, more support, and more control.
Key Innovations:

- World’s First 4-Way Adjustable Monotube – A revolutionary design that enhances durability and allows full pressure balancing for better shock response and reliability.
- Pressure Balancing – Reduces flow paths that cause cavitation and oil aeration, leading to increased damping consistency and better traction.
- Larger Base Valve & Multi-Valve System – Provides enhanced traction, support, and reduced rider fatigue, mirroring the proven performance of FOX’s GRIP X2 damper.
- Upgraded Main Shaft Diameter – Now 12.7mm (½”) for increased strength and durability over the previous 9.5mm design.
- 4-Way Adjustability – Independent High-Speed and Low-Speed Compression and Rebound tuning for precise ride feel.
- Trophy Truck-Inspired Ride Quality – Keeps the chassis composed while maintaining maximum traction, just like Fox-equipped off-road race vehicles.
- Close the Performance Gap – The oversized air chamber and reduced friction air seal package creates a more linear, planted ride feel that gravity riders demand, without excess weight.

Float X2 Tech Specs:
- Sizes (Eyelet Mount): 210×50, 210×52.5, 210×55, 230×60, 230×62.5, 230×65, 250×75
- Sizes (Trunnion Mount): 185×55, 205×60, 205×65, 225×75
- Adjustability: High/Low-Speed Compression & High/Low-Speed Rebound
- Max Air Spring Pressure: 350 psi
- Air Volume Spacers: 1cc increments
- Starting Weight: 720g (210×55)
DHX2: For Those Loyal to Coil

The DHX2 takes all the advancements of the FLOAT X2 and pairs them with the ultra-plush feel of a coil spring. Built for World Cup racers and gravity riders who demand ultimate traction and control, the new DHX2 now features pressure balancing for unmatched damping consistency and predictability.

Key Innovations:
- Identical Internal Architecture to FLOAT X2 – Delivers the same damping consistency and adjustability.
- Pressure Balancing for Coil – Increases small-bump sensitivity and improves shock control under extreme loads.
- 4-Way Adjustability – Fine-tune High-Speed and Low-Speed Compression and Rebound.
- Increased Main Shaft Diameter – 12.7mm for enhanced strength and durability.
- Unmatched Sensitivity & Traction – Ideal for riders who demand precision and confidence at high speeds.

The Winning Difference: Race-Proven, Rider-Approved
The FLOAT X2 and DHX2 redefine what’s possible for gravity suspension. With the durability of a monotube design, the benefits of pressure balancing, and FOX’s signature 4-way adjustability, these shocks deliver the control, traction, and confidence that World Cup racers and aggressive riders need to perform at their best.
