Can anybody recommend me a good lightweight xc mtb?
Looking to spend around £1500.
No more than 100mm travel/26" wheels/slackish geometry/below 24lb.
Any out there?
Thanks in advance.
On One Whippet
I have a HT that is dead on 25lb ( not for sale) that has cost less than £800 to build. Alu frame , 100mm forks. Getting a HT at 24lbs for £1500 should be quite easy i think.
I'd probably go with the whippet also, although with a 1500 budget I'd be tempted to buy the frame and then look around for a deal on wheels forks and components. I reckon you could build something sub 22lbs for that money
The Grand Canyon AL is also worth a look. 23lbs for 1300 (without the pedals). If you can spend a couple of hundred quid more than your budget then the Carbon version a pound lighter.
Scott scale 30 2012. £1299 on pauls cycles. Bargain!
if you're over 6 foot, this could work:

Cheers fellas. Scott scale was on short list.
Liking look of the Trek elites for the money too.
