[Closed] Where would you go if you had 3 months (cycle touring content)
So if you had 3 months off cycle touring where would you go?
I'm considering taking 3 months off work next year (will have to sell quite a few things including my lovely campervan) My dream is to cycle to Nepal but that's just far to ambitious to do in 3 months
So where would you go? How far do you think I could go in 3 months?
I'd start from the front door and head South, see how far I got in three months then fly home.
Hobart to Cairns. Or there abouts.
Cycle to the top of scotland, get the ferry to Iceland, Cycle round Iceland, then get the ferry home.
Canada to mexico at a leisurely pace should fit quite nicely into three months
Trans Alpine.
Start in Nice and take an arc over the Alps to Slovenia.

This sounds good!
Was thinking rough mileage of 80 a day
Didn't mark Beaumont get to Turkey in 21 days? 😯
That, I think.muppetWrangler - Member

90days, 100miles a day, 9000miles
I'd head for Africa, just avoid the Antelopes.
Failing that I'd bum arround the Alps or Vancouver/BC for the summer.

About 70 - 80 miles a day? Follow your dream!!

Great divide trail might be too short for you then. As over 90 days it would only be about 30 miles a day.
Personally I would still think this is enough, means you get rest days, tourist days, detour days and still won't feel like your on a schedule.
[edit]
Could always start in Anchorage so the first leg is out of Alaska and through British Columbia. Should still come in comfortably under 80 miles per day
The perimeter of the UK is 7760 miles.
Id do what I missed last time.

Central spain, southern france, alps, northern italy, germany.
or
Denmark, ferry to norway, sweden, finland, Aarland archipelago and ferry back to sweden, bridge to denmark.

Seriosuly.. you think nepal is possible? I reckon i could extend it to maybe 4.. also depends on how far the money will stretch. Haven't got a clue how much it would cost. I'd be doing the whole tent/campsite/ wild camping route
tricky - I just google mapped Bristol to Kathmandu. It said 6,700 miles. You may want to change the route though 😉
It's easy to cycle 1000 miles in 10 days.
If it's your dream, use the once in a lifetime opportunity to follow your dream... no regrets 🙂
(I will hate you though)
Actually do it or I will hate you. Don't waste the opportunity.
In terms of cost... once you've got a decent tent and gear.
What £10 a night for camping on average? £1000 in total??
Food - whatever it'd cost you at home.
A flight home?
Chamois cream by the bucket load?
I like to look at the scenery and stop for beer when touring - 300 - 400 miles a week is about what I do realistically. You don't want to ride every day.

Is that through Afghanistan? 😯
heard the best route is through the stans
maybe 6 months off is required (which would be possible with work but would need to know how much i'd need)

^ Best advice.
If the trip you'd really like to do is within reach then surely that's got to be the one to go for.
Turkey, Iran, ****stan. 😕
I just shortened it for you by avoiding tolls and highroads. 6,500.
Look deeply at your reasons for doing a trip like this. Make sure you are doing it for the right reasons. Think of the impact it might have on those that are close to you.
If you still think its what you want to do, then make it happen. Life is too short not to follow your dreams.
