Having been to the Alps a few times I really want to do an eeppppic biking trip with miles and miles of undulating singletrack to be had. I'm thinking Kamloops or Colorado roadtrip from what I've heard - has anyone been to these places, or can recommend others?

(I know UK riding pretty well so looking for locations abroad here....)

Colorado is good, Crested Butte etc.

Kamloops is near Whistler tho? Not singletrack, but amazing riding there IMO.

Only been to Whistler in BC.

My "amazing riding" was referring to it, not Kamloops.

Guatemala or Peru. Those kind of places are more of an adventure than American or Canada too.

Chilcotins up in the BC Interior. Did a trip up there when I was working in Whistler and it was by far the best singletrack I've ever ridden.

Stayed with these guys for a nights and got shown round by one of their guides.
PSA a guide is a really good idea, firstly because they know the area. Secondly, it's Grizzly bear country up there, and it's nice to be riding with someone who carries a gun- just in case!

Bend, Oregon gets my vote, somewhere around 300 miles of singletrack within riding distance of Bend itself. Same again a short drive away in Sunriver, you can't get bored! It's hot, dusty and there are no grizzlies, but there are mountain lions! The riding is phenomenal, check out www.cotamtb.com for a feel for the area and scene (mtb and microbreweries, a match made in heaven). There are plenty of videos on YouTube but look up McKenzie River, Mrazek, Whoops for a start.

Epic undulating singletrack like this:

It's in the alps again, but the Tour du Mont Blanc is hard to beat for epic singletrack. Here's a wee write up from last year, the pic is from the day 2 descent from Youla towards Courmayeur.
