Couple of us are heading down to Afan for the Nov 13/14th weekend. Any recommendations on places to stay, either b&b, bunkhouse or camping.

Cheers

Afan lodge.

End of thread

http://www.mountain-bike-accommodation.com/

10 min spin from either trail head
accomodation is brill
food is better, and well priced too
service has always been great.
free lock up provided, and the rooms have specific boxes for muckyclothes etc.

looking forward to next time we head back, in the near future hopefully.

will be my 5th visit iirc 🙂

Log cabins?
Right on the wall trail and next to the new 4X track. Been promising this to myself for a while.
Bryn bettws I think it's called?

Nice people, bike lockup, and staggering distance from the Drop Off Cafe...

I can vouch for bryn bettws really nice location next to the trails and with a bike park. Had a great night there earlier this year.

Afan lodge is nice but we stayed a Saturday night in May - £65 for a twin room B&B but last week, on a Monday they wanted £100 for the same room !
We ended up here http://www.castlehotelneath.co.uk/mountain_biking_packages.aspx

Nice place, nice people
all the usual bike storage/washing facilities
It's 100m from the trails & 500m from a decent pub

I can't think of a downside

Agree on all the above, as has been said often!

I can also recommend Luffy's place - http://www.dropoffcafe.com/links.php

+ 1 for queens guest house I've been there a few times.
Stayed at the green lanterns last weekend though - it's at the other end near the wall - nice place and the bonus of a steak restaurant and bar onsite!

I wouldn't say that - the food we had last week was great & the portions were fine.

campiste at the afan trail centre? Stayed there twice before, dirt cheap and can stay about 10metres away from the trails. afan forest park

Bridgend pencoed travelodge, restuarant/pub next door. Next junction down m4 is big sainsburys for brekkie, £29 a double room or could fit 3 if you don't mind sharing a double bed.

We use it every time we do afan.

We were going to head over to Afan that weekend, but then found out the Welsh Rally stage is going through there...
