[#2319102]

Planning on mountain biking in Scotland for two weeks in May. Looking to ride natural trails and hopefully visit a wide range of distilleries.
Was thinking:
Fort William
Aviemore
Torridon
Skye

Does anyone have any recommendations for locations to ride / camp / taste whisky?

ta.

Dundee is a great place. If you dont fancy that try Cumbernauld or Irvine.

If you do decide on any of those, you could fit Drumchapel in easily, as it's fairly near both Cumbernauld and Irvine. Spend a day there, you won't soon forget it.

Some routes to google/research to get you started

Sligachan loop on Skye
Coulags loop, Torridon
Corrieyarack Pass/Glen Roy/Great Glen Cycle route
Ratagan-Montrose C2C
Doll-Kylesku C2C
Gaick-Feshie-Tilt loop
Auchindrain-Loch Awe loop
My secret trails (you won't find them online right enough)

With two weeks, I'd opt to spend some time around Aviemore (busy-ish, lots to do, Laggan is nearby plus all of Rothiemurchus, plus near all the Speyside distilleries)) and then some time up Torridon and the further North West, maybe staying in Gairloch.

Also looking at this. Recommending (*As someone who HAS NOT ridden the routes) but from an ideas/readability, ease of understanding, map style and quality (*plus Memory Mapping of routes and the fact they've been in MBR on tinternet etc etc) 'Scotland Mountain Biking, The Wild Trails, Phil McKane, Vertebrate Publishing

Where you driving from and how much driving you wanting to do in a day? What do you want at night- peace and quiet or somewhere with a couple of bars and places to eat?

I assume you're coming up from Englandshire? How about

Drive up East a day in the borders, a couple of days in the central highlands (Aberfoyle/Callender/Dunkeld), then a couple of days in Cairngorms, drive west to Torridon a couple of days there, down to Applecross for a day, Skye for a day, down to Fort William/Kinlochleven area for a couple of days, down to Inverrary/Lochgilphead/Tarbert for a day, bike and ferry across to Arran, down the coast to Newton Stewart/Castledouglas/Dalbeattie for a couple of days.

You're never too far from good riding wherever you go.
