Something wider than 44cm if possible, and no OS.
Anyone?

Think you may struggle on the none OS side. Bontrager do a couple of bars in 46 and I think Ritchey do too. I saw another brand a couple days ago with some 46s but can't remember at moment who it was. Think it was one of the more "traditional" brands. I'll let you know if it comes to me.

I have Planet X 46s on my RB and width wise they are ace. Don't seem to do them anymore. Not found anyone who does a 48 yet though.

I found the Salsas too from Wiggle. Deda also do a 46 non- OS bar. Google Deda Piega Bars and you'll find places who do em. Good price too for the alloy bars.

You've proably covered this already, but IIRC some manufacturers' 44 is in fact c-c and wider than other's 46 (end to end)

I have the Salsa Moto Ace Bell lap in the link above in 46cm. I got them from Wiggle. Pretty light and strong and they sweep out wide on the drops. They have a nice long top flat area for my CX top levers. Really good, highly reccomended.

As above, if a given brand's largest size is 44 then it's probably because they measure centre to centre rather than outside to outside as brands that do a 46cm size do.

The only real solution is to get some of the funny looking CX flared bars. that are pretty wide on the drops.

I personally can't see the point unless it's for CX though or you've got some sort of strange body where you can't breathe properly unless your arms are very widely spaced.

Planet-X had 46cm OS bars in their Big 500 Sale the other day... £15 IIRC.

Sorry Clubber but unless you're a cat one or pro why go for a narrow bar? I'm a biggish chap and feel much more comfortable with my 46s than my old 44s. How wide are the bars on your MTB? Personally I feel leisure roadies and maybe racers, who have broad chests/shoulders would be more comfortable and possibly a little more efficient by having their chests more open aiding breathing?

It's not a narrow bar - a 40/42 is narrow.

44cm (or 46 if outside to outside) feels spot on and I don't feel constricted at all so why would I want something wider?

(as I posted above, your 46 is probably exactly the same width as my 44)

OK - when measuring the width what does centre to centre (c-c) actually mean? Centre of the bar at the widest point?

Sorry for the numptyness.

Oh FFS, as above learn how manufacturers measure their bars.
