I'm looking to buy a good quality security chain and lock in London, I'm thinking that a motorbike shop would be best (needs to be 1.5-2m long).
anyone know of any shops that would charge reasonable prices?
Screwfix or band q.

thanks, was looking for options other than those sold at bicycle stores
weight isn't an issue as I won't be carrying it anywhere

thanks project, there's a screwfix not that far from me, and a toolstation.
are these as tough as the likes of Almax/ Kryptonite? I hadn't really considered non-bike specific/marketed chains.
they're far cheaper; I'd be tempted to get a couple at those prices. are they half the strength of stronger/ larger chains?
unless you have access to a metalurgical lab, i wouldnt know.
But as i used to work in a steelworks, there is a limited supply of special steels, and its also having the equipment to cut the stuff that thieves have,if they want something hard enough no matter bwhat steel is used they will get past it,
i have the kyrptonite newyork for sale, brand new in box 150cm £85 posted.
Kryptonite are sold secure gold rated, just make sure the chain you buy has a similar rating and it should be ok.
Same goes for the lock.
I got a couple of the 12mm chains from Toolstation.
they certainly look the part and at £25ish each they were a lot cheaper than the equivalent Kryptonite chain. just hope I don't get to find out how good they are!
thanks for the suggestion project.
if they have the tools and the time any chain or security device can be defeated.
Hopefully they will see thick chain and go else where.
