Broke my doeore front 2x shifter on todays ride and so it won't shift.... can't seem to buy it alone without the rear one.... any suggestions?

eBay ......I don't have shimano...I have SRAM red....and when I stacked my bike last year I found loads of left or right side SRAM red shifters there
SLX are switchable - Deore maybe also. Might be worth confirming before buying as it might open up your options a little.

Does it strictly need to be 2x? I set my 3x shifter to 2x just by setting the limit screws appropriately - it is then impossible to get the 2nd click.

Should be loads for sale or lingering in spares boxes as lots of people have gone 1x
Wouldn't a 3x work? Just set up the stops properly and have a spare click below the granny position that essentially does nothing... That's what everyone used to do.
