Locally for fast fun, the old lead mining trail from Bolts Law to Edmundbyers is great but there are lots of other similar fun trails in that area.

In Summer there's a trail through a some local woodland that I enjoy. It's an old deciduous wood full of wildlife - you frequently see deer, badgers, foxes, buzzards, pair of sparrowhawks. It's not very technical but undulates down the hill side and is simply a beautiful place to ride. Sadly in Winter local horse riders churn it into a miserable quagmire.
