My non-cycling mates are planning a weekend away in the cotswolds and I need to steer decision-making on location to an area with some riding. Any suggestions?

Cheers
Rich

Stroud. #embracethehills

(its actually just outside of the Cotswold District but offers the best for MTB riding, for road = anywhere). 417 Project is close by if thats your thing.

If they're 'non-cycling mates', what kind of thing are you after? As qwerty said, the Stroud end has better riding of you know what you're doing, but if you're after something a bit more newbie friendly (in a gentler up and down, still fun to be had, pub stop along the way kind of thing), then further North (Winchcombe/Cleeve Hill and surrounds) is possibly a safer bet.
