[#2121685]

I'm looking for something simple - probably XT 6-bolt and Mavic 717s, all black.

When I last bought these (yonks ago) I paid £120 or so from Merlin or CRC, but now I can't find anything for less than about £170.

Who's doing decent value basic wheel builds these days?

Are these any good? http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=40&products_id=227

Muchos gracias

B

Heard good things about the Superstar wheels. Whats your budget? I guess its out yours judging by your comments, but the Hope Hoops are hard to beat and generally the hubs are super reliable.
Price of many components has rocketed in the last 12-24 months, so every thing has shot up.

i have had a hope hub built up with mavic rims for 8 years by Monty at Condor; never gone out of true after some 6k miles and hard riding on rigid forks..... never serviced them either.

can recommend addiktion in snorbens

I actually have some Hope Pro2s on 717s on another bike, and like them, but really can't justify the extra money as I don't feel any performance advantage. I spent half as much on XTs/717s and like them equally much... a bit more stealthy too!

TBH I was hoping to spend under £150 but might stretch to those superstars if they're worth it. Fast engagement is always nice.

Could try Deore hubs(M525 model, not 475 which have very limited sealing), regular servicing and occasional freehub replacement and they last ages. When they do eventually die,it's not that expensive for a new one either.
