What does that mean exactly?
Trying to get some Hope ProII hubs and have been told they are on back order.
it means they don;t have them in stock, and potentially neither do hope until they make some more
It means go somewhere else if you want em soon ๐
Its a bit like pre-ordering and re-doubling (of effort) ball cock speak for marketing and media types.
It means they ordered the parts, the supplier said "we haven't got them in at the moment, do you want to forget about it or wait till we've got them?" and your guy said "send them when you've got them".
Nobody will have any idea when they might be at the shop.
Wot John said. Ordered, Hope haven't got any and will have given a date (probably plucked from thin air) as to when they'll appear.
Nobody will have any idea when they might be at the shop.
Actually companies like Hope tend to know exactly how long until they fulfil their back orders, it's massive companies who are getting stuff from other companies who tend not to know.
Shouldn't be long with Hope, you could ask how long they'll be...
Hey, im a hope dealer tell me number of spokes single speed or geared and colours and i'll phone hope now for you...
just 32hole, geared in black for both front and rear.
so the shop isn't buggering me about then, that's a first.
i have just this second spoken to hope and they are in stock and very available... and on an order like that they wouldn't even pay postage, not sure why they dont want to sell stuff?
I was gonna say, seems very odd to think Hope don't have stock of those! If you wanted 35h in purple camo I could understand.
So yes, they're buggering you about.
In my experience, 9 times out of 10, it means, we can't be arsed to find out about them, are never going to get them in, you'd be better off buying online. Save you money too.
Maybe a minority of shops actually order stuff in when they say they have, but in my experience, ordering through shops is just a recipe for being screwed around, not getting promised phone calls back etc. Most shops are only worth it when they have the part in stock in the actual shop which you are in, anything else is a complete gamble, with pretty poor odds that you'll ever get the part you want.
Joe
The fella is the most disorganised in the world, I think his cash flow is struggling which is why things are taking so long, despite the fact he has been paid up front.
Should be an interesting phone call...
