Used to post over there a far bit 6 or 7 years ago - never seen anyone commit "Forum Suicide" as much as Dylan, there was a lot of goading at the time too.

A pity to see it die, was once a good forum but they changed it too much/often.

The best troll on there was Emily Green if you can remember that far back

Just tried to log on font the first time in ages but it appears Kato had been deleted. Ah well

The single, best ever article on any bike website was Numpty's write up on his first foray into the Surrey Hills enhanced by a hangover and some ludicrous trackie bottoms over on BM - a true classic. ๐Ÿ™‚

Bmagic wiped the floor with this place for characters. Unfortunately this made it a little difficult when there was a disagreement as no one would back down.

This place wouldn't even get close to a mdt

I basically found the new layout and my inability to ride mountain bikes put paid to the enjoyment.

Fond memories of hobo style and I have friends from those days who will be friends forever

That thread was epic.

It was certainly full of 'characters', good and bad! There were fewer contributors than on here, and i guess when they went it was always gonna go downhill. Wonder what happened to Ti29er Tim **shudders**.

I have fond memories of all the forum rides I did though, and still thoroughly enjoy meeting up with the guys I met from there!

FTFY, Kato, old chap! ๐Ÿ™‚

I led that very ride! ๐Ÿ™‚ The BM guys loaned him a bike for the day, and he was very, very ill on it! Am still in touch with Numpty, top man. One of the funniest guys I know. Rubbish rider, but a really very funny guy!

Think she belonged to the that little Irish fella. Pete was it?

Started off as a troll and ended up being someone's permanent alter ego

I rode with wee Pete a couple of times and asked him who India was! He reckoned he had an idea but that was all...

Yes Stan, but we left for good reason.

Emily Green. Oh yes. Toe curling embarrassing and more than a little cruel. But fantastic, nonetheless. My first forum. The Chiltern first 1XV used to hang about on there. Dan (dirtyrider), Clubber, Kato were all prolific posters. Dylan was the head of the uber-nutters although I never tired of his "I've made a 69r and moved a 2mm headset spacer and removed 1psi from my tyre and I'm 55% faster' threads.

I wasted so much time on there. But it was fun while it lasted. Before mike it was Cullen and either he or Mike told me there was a bug where banned people could still post but no one but other banned people saw their posts or something like that. It was like them going cold turkey in a room full of addicts ๐Ÿ˜‰

IIRC flogged the ti29 and buggered off to Argentina.

๐Ÿ˜†

True, true.

So the lack of posts/posters on BM is due to the banning of Dylan - I bet the powers-that-be didn't expect that result.

Mike mentioned that to me. Imagine doing that to [s]Mikeconnor[/s] Fred and TJ! ๐Ÿ™‚

I liked Dylan, despite his rather bizarre theories about biking. I thought that some (not all) of his bannings were a tad unfair due to the amount of goading that he took. I sometimes wondered that if he and Mike S alternated with being allowed on the forum then that might calm matters (i.e. make it duller!) ๐Ÿ˜‰

He claimed that on more than one occasion.

And CFH , I do still chuckle just thinking about Numpty puking, hallucinating and generally just falling off. ๐Ÿ™‚

poor old BM! i had a good few thousand posts on there too - kept me going through my GCSEs and A-levels... then moved over here as it got more interesting.

dylan was a proper funny one, but i met him a couple of times, and was actually quite a decent bloke! i dunno if dirty carlos drifted over here too, but he seemed a real decent bloke too.

shame its gone to the dogs, but i guess i'm part of the reason.

**** me! Emily Green... forgotten all about that. There were 3 of us with a log in for her. Me, Mike and and gf Anne, she was invented solely to wind up 42 (a seriously disturbed young man) I think she ended up going to spain to learn how to pole dance...

mike was give a bag as a pressie from BM for 'Services to trolling'...

I think 42 ended up working with children, ๐Ÿ˜ฏ did anyone else get threatened by his 'solicitor'?

like many here, BM was my 1st forum. I remember many of the characters and Alex and clubber at least that are now here.

It was hugely useful for me as I learned about bikes, but became increasingly purile and bitchy.

I remember having a massive 'dissussion' with some fool from the new forest who seemed to think it was the best riding in the UK and couldn't accept the possibility that it might not be, and a few other gems.

STW kind of drew me away if I'm honest, its just more grown up and bike related.

Er no, STWer's use different words to achieve the same thing.

STW is presented a different way due to the forum rules. I bet you a million dollars if the rules were relaxed they'd be pictures of Kylie, Jane 20 from Fareham and political arguments all over the place.

The rules 7-10 years ago here were much more relaxed I think you'll find.

Its only recent years where they've stamped their feet about it being their forum.

Its only recent years where they've stamped their feet about it being their forum.

which may explain why

a) they've started earning more money from it

and

b) it's not gone the way of BM?

Sciencofficer/www - I've only been around a short while so was STW as raucoous as BM in the older days?

(just trying to hypothesise about the cause of BM's demise)

it was a lot more, errm, liberal.

especially Friday and Saturday nights.

There's a picture of a bloke in a gimp suit that I've not managed to shift even with mind bleach.

and Agony Aunts piercings made a lasting impression.

Well I've just gone for a mooch and stuck on a new post, so perhaps, paradoxically, this thread will help resurrect BM!

Wow. I did initially have some sympathy for him due to my own farmyard animal fetish. I briefly tried to remember if he was wearing underwear in a photo that got posted up but I think I'll try and lock any hint of memory of 'that' photo right at the back of my mind.

They did that to me a couple of times for upsetting the locals, which was a clique of a few people.Probably half the reason so few people were using the place..... ๐Ÿ˜•

Ah, Bikemagic. I can't even remember what I used to post as, but it was a lot.

Then I stopped being a student, got a job and drifted away as I actually had stuff to do with my life.

Emily Green and the Friday Afternoon Thread Wreckers - them were the days...

Didn't it used to show banned people (ahem...) their posts in threads - but not anyone else - so it looked like they were posting but being ignored?
