So I'm planning my new build. Finally going down the route of a 29er. Not sure what wheels to go for though, I'm trying to keep costs down but at the same time I don't want to go to cheap as I like nice things 🙂
I love my Hope hubs, always have and have always had them on my bikes. So with the new build not sure if I should
a) Sell my Hope wheels and buy new Hope wheels.
b) Take my current Hope hubs and get them rebuilt onto 29er rims.
c) Sell my current Hope wheels and buy a new set of Mavic Crossride 29ers.
Decisions, decisions - what do you think?
What rims are on your Hope wheels? Will affect the resale value.
It will probably cost £100 per wheel for your hubs to be built on new rims.
How much are new Hopes/Mavics?
What's the resale of your current wheels?
edit beaten to it!

My rims are xm319's. All in nice condition as new in April and hardly touched the dirt due to a new daughter.
New wheels will be about £300 tops as for mine resale, no idea???
Pro 2 wheels tend to go for about £150 a pair depending on rim (Stans fetch more as they are [s]more fashionable[/s] better).

😯
how about
b)i) take your hubs and build some 29ers into them yourself.
I was looking to have a xt hub laced onto a new 717 non disc rim, 2 bike shops quoted between £90-110. A brand new wheel is xt/717 rim brake wheel is £130
It did cross my mind to build them myself, them get them tuned but I don't have the time/knowledge to do it.
same here with the building them myself. Lack of time and knowledge and also confidence!
