If a rim is drilled with altertnate offset spokes does the spoke go to the closest ?
Hope that makes sense

Left flange to left offset spoke hole and vice versa.

Most are yes, some aren't and the spokes cross, but it's rare.

It should be obvious when you put a nipple in as most rims are drilled so the spoke holes point at one flange or the other, otherwise the head of the nipple would push on one side rather than evenly all round.

Don't decide what side the offset is by looking at thd large holes in the rim bed.
