Does anyone know a good independent wheel builder somewhere close to Dorking?
Mike at Beyond in Cranleigh is excellent.
I have had about 4 sets of decent road wheels built by this guy.

I am sure he can knock up some MTB wheels without too much of an issue.
He is in Richmond (surrey) though.
i guess you don't want to ask Nirvana cycles then?
there's also another bike shop right in the centre of Dorking who's name escapes me
Nirvana in Wescott has built wheels for me.
Not used them for years as the wheels are still going strong.

Head for the Hills?
I have 2004 vintage Nirvana wheels still going strong.
Rowan @ Nirvana
I've used Nirvana for wheel builds, rebuilds and repairs for years. Always quality and great value for money.
Yeah get Rowan (Nirvana) to do em, not Si as he'll do it after a few sherberts ๐ or Rog in Head for Hills, he's a bit weird, but good a making a strong wheel.

Jon fitted me in (when I found Nirvana customer service to be a bit too up themselves)
very reasonable on price, works in that biker cafe in Ashtead or has workshop above discountbikewarehouse next to dorking west station
Rog at Head for the Hills in Dorking builds a good wheel. He built me a set of ENVE 29ers that stood up to a week in Whistler and 2 weeks in the Alps no problems.
had a chat with rowan seems a nice chap. thanks for recommendations.
Rowan at Nirvana did a great job on my alfine build.
